Ride Description:

This approximate 300 mile loop will pick up five 2012 Challenge Sites:

                        1.  Ruby City

                        2.  War Eagle Mountain

                        3.  Inskip Station

                        4.  Birch Creek Historic Ranch

                        5.  Rockville

From Municipal Park we will head out Pleasant Valley Road (via Broadway Ave, Amity & S. Production Street, and Gowan Road) through the National Guard Training Area to Swan Falls Dam.  We can walk out bikes across the dam to the south side of the Snake River and up into Murphy on our way to Ruby City near Silver City.  We will see if we can find the Ruby City Cemetery and explore some of the old mines around War Eagle Mountain.

On our way to Inskip Staion we will stop in Jordan Valley, OR, for food and fuel.  Passing through Danner, OR, we will visit the Jesse Anderson General Store (closed but worth the view), and from Inskip Staion we will head to Birch Creek Historic Ranch on the Oqyhee River and also visit the Morrison Ranch less than a mile down stream.

From the Birch Creek Ranch we will work our way back to Boise visiting what little remains of Rockville.  We will see if we can find the Rockville Cemetery about 3.6 miles west of the town site.

From Rockville we will head into Marsing and back into Boise via back roads past Lake Lowel and skirting around Nampa, Kuna and south Boise to connect back with Pleasant Valley Road via Ten Mile Creek.

I have listed this ride as a level 3 for three reasons:  (1) its length (we will need to be moving right along), (2) the section up out of the canyon on the south side of the Snake River is rather steep and rocky.  For that reason I am prefering to do this ride on my DRZ-400, and (3) you have to push your bike across the Swan Falls Dam negotiating two aright angle turns in a fairly narrow walk-way.  I have done this with my DRZ-400 and thought at the time this would be very difficult (if not impossible) with my KTM-990.

Weather in Boise for October 10 in predicted to by sunny in the mid to high 60's, but you can expect it to be 10-15 degrees cooler in Silver City and on War Eagle Mountain (8,000 feet elevation), so dress appropriately.  Call me if you have any questions.
