Ride Description:

Hi all, I am putting together a Steens ride, It will be as much dirt roads as I can get between here and there. Due to the soda fire and any other fire that may spring up, I may need to change my planed route. My plans are: kickstands up at 9:00. we will be meeting in Nampa at Sunrise Inn Cafe. Show up early if you want to eat breakfast. Hit dirt out of Marsing on Poison creek road and work our way to Jordan Craters. From there the back way into Rome for fuel ~130 miles from Nampa to Rome. From Rome take the old ION Hwy South to Whitehorse Rd then to Willow hot springs. that will be day 1 we will be camping there. ~90 miles Rome to Camp, and ~50 mile to Fields. I have not put together all of day 2 but it will consist of fueling at Fields (maybe breakfast) then Riddle brothers historical ranch, Blitzen and Kilger gorge, Pete French round barn, and there might be a few more places if we have time. night 2 will be somewhere below the Steens mountains. This ride will be based on the weather if there is much rain in the forecast I may cancel it. I am going to limit the party to 5 riders so if this ride does fill up you can email me and I will confirm all people signed up are going this may allow you to go.

I have the return route planed out. I have track from a previous ride from Crane to Owhyee junction. this will be primitive roads with no service, it will be ~120 miles across. from there we will take Hwy 201/19 to Homedale and that will be the end of my ride.  If you have had enough dirt there are 2 alterniative ways home from Crane all Slab. Hwy 78 north to Hwy 20 or Hwy 78 south to Hwy 95.
