Ride Description:

SORRY THE WORDS ARE ALL RUN TOGETHER. SOMETHING HAS CHANGED AND I CAN'T GET PARAGRAPHS, BOLD LETTERING, ETC. Idaho, Nevada, Oregon. High Desert in the fall. Sounds like fun huh? DAY ONE-THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 24TH I will be at the Homedale Subway sandwich joint at 4:30 p.m. to get a bite to eat. We will head out at 5:00 p.m. and head west to Oregon and take Succor Creek Road south towards Jordan Valley. This will be 65 miles of fast gravel/dirt almost all the way to Jordan Valley. The last few miles are pavement. Fuel up in Jordan Valley. Very Important as the next fuel is 201 miles away. Head out 31 miles to the North Fork Owyhee Campground to set up camp for Thursday night. This campground has fire rings, picnic tables and an outhouse. You are welcome to take another route to Jordan Valley/North Fork Campground and meet us there. Just make sure you fuel up in Jordan Valley. DAY TWO-FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 25TH We will shoot for 8:30 a.m. departure time. Bring something to eat for lunch on the trail. Head south to Juniper Mountain and down to Crutcher Crossing. Ford the East Fork Owyhee River and head over to The 45 Ranch to ford the South Fork Owyhee River. On over to the Star Valley Ranch and down to 3 Corners, the spot where Idaho, Oregon and Nevada meet. Then we go South to Paradise Valley, NV. Then North up over the Santa Rosa Mountains and back down to HWY95 for a short pavement ride to Orovada, NV to fuel up. Then it's 63 miles to the Northwest up Kings River Valley to Denio Junction for dinner at the restaurant. Fuel up and head South 28 miles to Blue Lake to set up Friday nights camp at 8000' elevation. 262 miles for the day. DAY THREE-SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 26TH 8:30 a.m. departure time again. We will head out 32 miles Northwest to Virgin Valley Campground/Warm Springs. I want to check this out for a future place to camp. 90 degree pool at the campground. Then we head West through the Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge to Adel, OR to fuel up and grab lunch if there is a place to eat there. Then it is 111 miles through Hart Mountain National Antelope Refuge to Frenchglen, OR. I will have to find out if they have fuel here for sure. If not you need 216 miles of fuel to get to Fields the next day. Then 17 miles or so up Steens Mountain to camp near Fish Lake at 7400' elevation. Bring something to eat for dinner at camp. 238 miles for the day. DAY FOUR-SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 27TH Maybe sleep in today and enjoy Steens Mountain. Head out to Fields, OR and have lunch and fuel up. There are many options from Fields to get back to the Treasure Valley. We will discuss that on the trip and decide who is going which way back. If you haven't been on the Alvord Desert playa you will probably want to experience that on the way back.
