Description:

For many years, this airstrip was listed as "Restricted" on FAA charts, meaning planned landings could not be made without permission from the Forest Service.  With encouragement from the Idaho Airstrip Network, that designation was removed in early 2011.  The airstrip's turf surface is good by backcountry standards, although not regularly maintained.  There are no camping facilities at the airstrip, but wilderness camping and good fishing are available along Cayuse Creek.

Photo taken July 10 on a group ride with Arden Hill and Doug Patchin.  We ended up camping at the Cayuse Outfitters just north of the west end of the runway.  Nice cabins, hot showers, great ribeye steak dinner, and flushing toilets!  Can you believe that!  We wanted to go over Toboggan Ridge to Cayuse Junction and do the Lolo Motorway east to west to Canyon Junction (site #-41), but there were too many downed lodgepole pines on Toboggan Ridge.

One of my favorite sites.  Blueribbon trout stream.  Stayed with outfitter at airfileld and was treated to ribeye steaks.  Great memories.
