Took me to a parking area across from a private ranch.  The area is still nice and green and a stream was running across the south side of the parking area.  fun day..

At least this is where the Pearl mine was years ago for another challenge.  Went up with AG Hill and Mark Fiechter after the kickoff party.

I rode with some street bike friends to Idaho CIty this morning. They rode back on the pavement, I decided to tag Placerville and Pearl on the way home.

I planned to ride due west out of Placerville toward Horseshoe Bend on Granite Creek, Hawley Mountain & Porter Creek Roads. Unfortunately, I came upon a locked gate on Porter Creek Rd (?) and had to backtrack to Placerville and take the southern route which has considerably more blacktop.

Once on Pearl road, it was smooth sailing westbound to the bend in the road designated as Pearl. From Pearl, I rode dirt into north Eagle, then fought traffic for 45 minutes to get home.

I must have ridden right past the old mine entrance.  I got up to the top and decided to take my photo with these creatures of leisure.

I didn't know what I was looking for but I noticed a plethora of no treaspassing signs around here.  I snapped a picture and kept on going.  It was a good spot to stop and pee.

Nothing here but "Private Property" and "No Trespassing" signs.
