Site 20 - Little Beaver Creek After leaving Placerville, the plan was to take Grimes Pass Rd to Summit Pass and Black Warrior over to HWY-21. But, It’s still too early in the season and we were thwarted by a fast, cold, stream crossing. Even if we’d braved the crossing (which the Cuprum Hermit did on his mighty 990) we never would have gotten past the snow – measured in feet, on NF-351 between Black Warrior and the highway. So we opted to take the dirt highway from Placerville to Idaho City and slab 20 miles north to Little Beaver Creek Road. Making the right, we rode down to the Forest Service’s rental cabin and got our photos. From there it was all dirt (sort of) to Site 03 - Banner Mine.
