lovely day  a little snow but a great end for the picnic

 Site 26 – Placerville

The ride from Pinehurst to Placerville was uneventful. Except for the first half-mile. Shortly after leaving the church and turning east on Banks Grade we encountered the first snow of the day. Nothing hairball, but Arlan’s bro gave his 1200GS’ throttle a little too much twist and got the bike crossed up in the snow and mud. He rode it out, but it was close.

Placerville itself was hoppin’ (for Placerville) with us three, another group of five Adventure riders, and a half dozen side-by-sides cramming the street. We visited with the other riders for a couple of minutes, then got our pictures and continued east to our next destination – Site 20 - Little Beaver Creek.

This was our 2nd attempt to make it to Placerville. Our first we started in Idaho City but ran into a creek we couldn't cross.

Yesterday we picked up a new (to us) Yamaha TTR50 for my son Silas (7) and naturally needed to go for a ride to test it out. We started at the base of Grimes creek road and took every side trail we could find on the way up. I was on the DRZ400 and my older son was on his PW80. The main road up grimes creek is an easy 2 and the side roads are often 3's. We had the most enjoyment on the side roads. The scenery is beautiful and we saw a lot of wildlife. Get out there and ride!
