Nice ride after work last night.  Not sure if I was at the "exact" site, as my GPS showed that it was up the hill on private property.

Went up to Pearl this afternoon. Enjoyable ride. For my photo op, I choose this mine site (N43.85651/W116.32225) in Pearl, because of the old car smashed into the roof of the mine shaft.  According to my GPS unit the mining claim is called, "Gem State Mine."

While riding the dirt road, I saw a couple Golden Eagles and one Northern Harrier Hawk. One incident occurred when I saw a golden eagle was attacking a rattle snake in the center of the dirt road (Pearl Road). The rattle snake was in full upright attack mode with rattles going. My presence interrupted the event and the golden eagle that was standing on the ground above the rattle snake flew up off the road.

I went from here to Squaw Butte.  I tried to follow the Sand Hollow road but got a "bit" lost and ended up going down Johnson Crk Rd.  It was not very maintained but very exciting!

I rode to Pearl first, a BIG MULEY DOE jumped of the upper bank right if front of me. Had to slam on all brakes but I did miss her. Then I rode to Squaw Butte then over to Ola took the High Valley road over the Smith Ferry then up to Packer John. Total of 203 miles for the day. It was a GREAT day to be out riding for sure.

It's hard to believe that someone tried to scratch a living out of this.

The end of the first challenge ride with Yeaggerman.  Turns out the timing for the ride was a bit off, but we made it to Pearl....although it was a bit dark.

This is the town site of Pearl after the few remaining buildings werre leveled.  It is about 1/4 mile west of the Gem State Mine featured in many of the previous posts with the rusted out car body above the opening to the mine.
