Check-Ins for this Challenge Point

A nice easy ride up the west side of the mountain.  GPS shows a road going off the top northwesterly,  We rode it  not for the big adventure bikes at all.  Steep rocky, a few bottomless mud holes, and numerous locked gates,  Took us a few hours to get back to OLA but it was fun and an adventure and thats what this is all about.

Nice late afternoon ride to Squaw Butte Lookout.  Butte Road up to Lookout has a fair amount of gravel.  Not bad, just not as fun a dirt roads /trails. Gate was open and made a nice photo op at Squaw Butte (N44.00343/W116.41149).

Thanks to IdahoSam for giving me directions!  I would have totally gotten lost without you!

The gate to the "main" butte was locked so I went to the butte just behind and snapped my photo there.

The gate going up to the actual site was locked, this is the FAA site right next to it.

It was cool and windy up there. This is the first Look Out I seen with a house built onto a Look Out. Gate was locked so I took my picture from the bottom looking up.

My 2nd site.  I went there after Pearl and a lunch at the Arctic Circle in Emmett.  The gate to the LO was locked so I took a left and went over to the station that was labeled as some sort of FAA installation.  I took the picture looking back toward the LO.

Another ride with Yeaggerman.  Got a late start today, but still made the lookout with plenty of time.  Gate was locked, so this is as close as it gets.

The gate to the fire lookout was closed to the public, so I took this picture at the FAA towers on a twin ridge across the saddle from the lookout.  There was a lot of smoke from the fire near Banks that filled the canyon up highway 55.

Gate to lookout closed and locked.  Photo taken from the other repeater site to the north.  The lookout building is just over the tip of the DR's front fender.  Visibility was very poor due to smoke so I'll have to return in the spring.
