Level 3 rides will include rutted double track, and uneven roads. These may be rocky and difficult at times. A 1200GS or similar bike will feel heavy in this terrain, and will require an experienced rider. A moderate rider on a 650cc bike will be able to maintain 20 to 30 m.p.h. without a load. Little or no single track will be present on a level 3 ride. You may encounter moderate water crossings (less than knee high). Expect higher average speeds on easy sections of the route.

McCall and Whitebird Challenge Sites.

Got a wild hair yesterday around noon to go up and hit all of the IAMC Challenge sites up north of McCall and around Whitebird.  So I packed up and hit the road. I didn't realize it until I started fiddling with my GPS along the way, but there was one site I hadn't been to right along the way, Paddy Flat Guard Station.

Boiling Springs, FAA Radar Site, and Sage Hen Reservoir

Decided yesterday that I needed to get out and hit some more Challenge Sites, I got all packed up this morning, and then decided to hop on the site to check a couple things.  Low and behold, Silverspurs just posted a ride for this weekend to do these exact sites along the route I planned to take.  So I had to decide whether I wanted to wait or not.  Because of my work situation I am not sure I'd be around this weekend so I decided to go for it.

Hitting my first Five challenge site on the new Tiger. Bonneville Point, Swan Falls, Barbar Flat, Pioneer Cemetery and Thorn Butte LO

Finally got back into town, and picked up my bandanna for this years Challenge.  So it was time to get the Tiger out, and get it dirty.

Ride Description:

I'm riding the Owyhees on Monday April 1st. Mostly gravel and two track, nothing a KLR can't handle. There should be plenty of water out in the desert this time of year, and I've heard of a waterfall on Camp Kettle Creek Rd  I would like to visit. Could be muddy in places, depending on how much rain we get before then, as the forecast is calling for some rain on Friday. Route not yet finalized.
