Level 3 rides will include rutted double track, and uneven roads. These may be rocky and difficult at times. A 1200GS or similar bike will feel heavy in this terrain, and will require an experienced rider. A moderate rider on a 650cc bike will be able to maintain 20 to 30 m.p.h. without a load. Little or no single track will be present on a level 3 ride. You may encounter moderate water crossings (less than knee high). Expect higher average speeds on easy sections of the route.

Ride Description:

My KLR is down at the moment and I need to get out and ride so I'm taking the wife's TW200 out for some little bike action. I have recently discovered the joy of riding a bike that can be easily picked up and want to do some singletracking and sand riding around Hemmingway Butte. I'm not doing anything too fast or hardcore, just want do some goofing around and push the TW into some places where the KLR would be a handfull. I'll be at the Hemmimgway Butte parking lot at noon.

Ride Description:

I'm planning to do a ride over to Salmon and Challis to pickup the Challenge sites in those areas...  We could meet up at the Salmon River Coffee shop at 9am on Sunday morning, head out to Ulyssess , Yellowjacket and Middle Fork Peak, then finish with Leesburg. I'll then be heading back to Salmon to get my truck, load the bike and drive down to Challis to spend the night...  right now, I'm planning to camp at Challis Hot Springs Sunday night...
