Level 3 rides will include rutted double track, and uneven roads. These may be rocky and difficult at times. A 1200GS or similar bike will feel heavy in this terrain, and will require an experienced rider. A moderate rider on a 650cc bike will be able to maintain 20 to 30 m.p.h. without a load. Little or no single track will be present on a level 3 ride. You may encounter moderate water crossings (less than knee high). Expect higher average speeds on easy sections of the route.

Ride Description:

Ride cancelled due to weather. Since I can't guarantee the condition of the terrain (due to snow/rain/mud), I'm cancelling the ride. That dirt out there turns to mud very quickly, and gets dangerously slick.

Crystal Crane Hot Spring recovery ride

Back in 3-26-2010 I went on a great group ride to Crystal Crane Hot Springs. It was 3 days and just over 600 miles of fun riding and good company…  But I lost some of my camping gear on the last day (My tent)

Day 1 Crane Creek

I had Friday off, so I put in a couple of invites to leaver early for Ed's ride. Originally, there were going to be five of us, but as the weather radar worsened, it was down to Ed, Mark, and I for Friday. We took off from Nampa and took pavement to Jordan Valley, since there aren't any dirt routes there this time of year (snow). Getting there was a bit chilly for Mark, since he was the only poor fool without wind protection on his Z. It was about 40 degrees when we pulled into JV for gas.
