Fall is here–got hit with some powerful gusts on the way back!
Ok so I didn’t intend to go here…Farai and I went up Rocky Canyon all the way up to the summit and there is a steep and deeply rutted “road” that is to the left from there. This should have taken us all the way to Bogus. We made a wrong turn somewhere and ended up on another “road” much less of a “road” than even the ridge road. This one had big rollers and DEEP ruts the kind you get stuck in with your wheels in the air spinning. Tight-roped thru and made it to the ridge where Robie creek road turns into Clear Creek road. Thank goodness there were some SxS there that told us where we were. We thought we’d go down Clear Creek road and stop at the lodge and get lunch but we got there and it wasn’t open yet. So we kept going and got back to Hwy21. Still feeling lunchy we made a left and did the 10 miles up to Idaho City. So yes, we made this 1 into a 3+.
End of a big loop
start of a bigger loop
Pit stop on a bigger loop. Debating on if I should have saved to for an out and back from town so I had an excuse to do it.
I rode today with Alex Crane on a 340-mile loop that saw temps as low as 52 degrees and as high as 104 degrees. Fun ride on the pavement.
Hot summer day for a quick ride. Smokey in the valley.
I usually come through here on my SV650 when doing the Lowman loop. We ate dinner at Trudy’s which made for a great end to a tiring weekend.
Also got this on the way home from Challis
Recommend the biscuit and gravy breakfast at Trudys!
A friend just got into riding, so I took him on the Banks-Loman loop and nabbed the Lowman and Idaho City sites along the way.
This is a good Challenge site to hit before riding up to Thorn Creek Lookout (#11).
Nice cool day for a ride
Cold beer sold here
Picture is from the cemetery after we had bfast at Trudy’s. Rode two up with my wife. Good fun. If you have not been to the cemetery run up there. lots of history and if you are a metal junky some cool wrought iron.
end of the lowman loop. Stopped at Trudy’s for their Friday prime rib – it was amazeballs!
Rode the Lowman Loop for breakfast at the Sourdough on Sunday. Hwy. 21 Lowman to Mores Creek Summit is smoooth as baby’s butt.
My son and I trailed up the bikes so we could participate as Ham operators during an Enduro event. Of course, we got some ride time in as well!
Quiet ride to Idaho city. Great weather.
I needed to burn off some ethanol fuel on my victory cruiser, so I rode it to Trudy’s in Idaho City along with some of the “Boise Ole’ Guys riding group (Craig, Joe and Chris) and ate some lunch! this pic is trudy’s parking lot… a fun but wet ride!
Came in from HSB via Harris Creek and explored Rabbit Creek summit out to the Middle Fork, then up along the North Fork and back to 21 at Edna Creek Campground. Idaho City is surrounded by a lot of great camping and riding areas. There are some decent food places (Trudy’s Kitchen, The Goldmine Grill, Leon’s Cafe) and the Sinclair gas station has non ethanol fuel.
There is still quite a bit of snow at the Mores Creek Summit so it will be a while before we can get up to Pilot Peak / Sunset Mtn. There are some prescribed burns in progress out there right now too.
Nice easy ride up to Idaho City. Road some trails off of Elk Creek and Bear Run roads. Fun day riding between storms.
Clear roads, fun and senic ride.

Came by way of HSB, Harris creek rd.and some other side trails
Took the street bikes out today for a lu ch run. Stopped off at Truddys for lunch
It wouldn’t be a trip to Idaho City without a piece of pie at Trudy’s. Oreo Chocolate Cream for the record.
A quick check in on my way up the mountain.
Great brisket French dip at the Gold Mine! Road was clear except for some sand/ grit in town. Lovely Sunday brunch run.
