Description

Mickey Hot Springs is a small geothermal area near the Alvord Desert in southeastern Oregon, known for its colorful mineral pools, steaming vents, and otherworldly landscape. While it’s often called a hot spring, it’s not safe for soaking — the water can be extremely hot — but it’s a fascinating place to stop and explore if you’re already riding in the Alvord Desert or Steens Mountain area. The road out to Mickey Hot Springs is typically gravel and well suited for adventure bikes, and it makes a great side trip when riding between Fields, the Alvord Desert, and the Steens Mountain Loop. The area is very remote, so bring water, fuel, and ride with a plan.
