Description
Tucked along historic routes in southern Idaho near Mountain Home (Elmore County) and the Oregon Trail, the Kelton Road marker highlights the important 1860s freight route from Kelton, Utah, to Boise and the northern mines.
This historic marker commemorates the busy wagon road that carried mail, passengers, and supplies before railroads arrived in 1883. Dual-sport and ADV riders on pavement or nearby gravel/backroads enjoy an easy pull-off for a quick photo, history break, and leg stretch amid high-desert scenery. A simple yet meaningful stop blending Idaho pioneer heritage with modern adventure riding. Respect the site, pack in/pack out, and ride safe.

13 Check-Ins
We came from Canyon Creek Road to Immigrant Road. I enjoyed reading the marker that gave Kelton Road's history.
Got separated from the main group on the poker run. Watched some cowboys moving cattle.
I echo Crane555's comment about the marker not looking like the picture. I wonder where that impressive monument is, because it's not on the GPS pin. I apparently was navel-gazing when the photo was taken. Maybe I'll go back out there and try and locate that impressive monument......and take another picture? LOL!
Bright and warm day and an easy check in. Just don't take the road to the south. Well you can just don't expect to get through.
