Description
Tucked in southwest Idaho’s Treasure Valley near Nampa, Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge (Lake Lowell unit) makes an easy paved detour for adventure motorcycle riders from the Boise area.
Surrounding the large reservoir, the refuge offers scenic embankment roads, wildlife viewing, and short trails amid wetlands and farmlands. Dual-sport and ADV riders enjoy smooth access off I-84/Hwy 55 for a relaxing leg stretch, birdwatching break, or quick photos before continuing Treasure Valley loops or heading into the Owyhees. Stay on designated roads—motorized vehicles restricted to public routes. Open daylight hours; respect wildlife and pack in/pack out. A peaceful contrast to rugged backcountry riding.

Use the form below to check in. Check-ins must include a photo of you or your bike at the challenge site with the 2026 bandanna. All participants must be registered IAMC Challenge Members. Leave a description of your ride and share road conditions — snow, water, obstacles, and tips for future riders are all appreciated.
Replying to another person's check-in is encouraged, but take care not to accidentally create your own check-in.
The stated difficulty is an estimate. Rating your experience helps future riders stay safe. You alone are responsible for the safety of your ride.

Went out on a ride to an event in Greenleaf, then hit this on the way back. Very buggy with cooler temperatures, but a fun ride (as long as your visor is down). It was a beautiful sunset with rich, golden colors.
Neat little area. I have been hearing many times on my sport bike and now the adventure bike
Nice spot for a picnic. Get your exercise by going on a brisk walk starting from this point.
A bit windy out by the lake. Almost forgot and rode by this one on the way to the mesuem.
We almost forgot this one as we were hitting some local ones. Remembered just tin time.
A nice ride a bit windy to make it hard to hold a bandanna and take pic as well Decided to f-go to the water so much nicer
Stop #1 after we left the picnic. This part of the valley is so cool and the Lake Lowell area never disappoints.
Made a big loop after the kickoff picnic and picked up a few challenge sites. This one was close, pavement all the way.
Hidden gem right on our doorstep. I cycle and walk up here all the time, and the wildlife is amazing.
I love the spot. I bring the dog over to walk this area every once in awhile.
