30-Grimes-Pass-Cemetery

Description

Tucked high on Grimes Pass (around 6,000+ ft) in Boise County near Pioneerville, the historic Grimes Pass Cemetery is a quiet, reflective stop for adventure motorcycle riders.

Named after gold discoverer George Grimes (killed in 1862 by Native Americans while prospecting), this small pioneer burial ground holds early Boise Basin miners and settlers amid pine-dotted hills. Dual-sport and ADV riders on forest roads from Idaho City or Garden Valley detour here for a quick history break, photos of old graves, and panoramic views before tackling rugged backcountry routes. Respect the site, pack in/pack out, and ride safe.
