33-Galena-Oregon

Description

Tucked along the Old West Scenic Bikeway in Grant County’s Blue Mountains, eastern Oregon, the historic Galena ghost town (formerly Susanville) is a rewarding stop for adventure motorcycle riders.

This 1860s gold and silver mining camp along the Middle Fork John Day River in Malheur National Forest features scattered old buildings and mining remnants. Dual-sport and ADV riders detour via forest roads from US-20 or the John Day area for a quiet history break amid scenic pine forests and river views. Respect private remnants, pack in/pack out, and enjoy the remote Eastern Oregon backcountry vibe.
