Description
Lizard Butte is a distinct 350-foot volcanic landmark near Marsing, Idaho, that resembles a basking lizard, famous for its annual Easter sunrise services held since 1938 and a large white cross at its summit. It offers steep hiking trails with 360-degree views of the Snake River Wine Country, though visitors should note that surrounding areas are private property.

Went out on a ride to an event in Greenleaf, then hit this on the way back. Very buggy with cooler temperatures, but a fun ride (as long as your visor is down).
NOTE: The path up to the cross is accessible only by foot traffic, so plan extra time to hike to the top!
We left from Hemingway Butte on the dirt and found ourselves back on the blacktop. Easy ride to the gate then a nice little walk to the viewing area
Rode the cruiser out today, it was a nice ride with plenty of bugs to cover up my glasses. We looped around the south side of lake Lowell. It's closed all the way to the top, so I'm rating it a 1.
I'd already ridden 330 miles this day and I needed to get to Boise before dark so I did't hike to the top. Being there brought back memories of going there as a child with my parents for Easter sunrise services.
Hiked up the single track only to find out at the top that there is a road to the left of the single track that is way easier to get to the top. Great exercise and view.
Again a nice post picnic ride However since I past may 80th birthday I don't walk to the top The pictures are from the start of the trail with the top of the mountain in the background
Been past this place a hundred times but never stopped and hiked to the top. It was well worth the effort. We didn't see any lizards but found Crimson Mass at the top. I'm trying to convince him he needs knobbies on his cruiser.
Beautiful views. Driven by a lot, first time up. Chatty took the picture for us.
There are steep, middling, and easy paths. I walked up the steep path and down the middling. Took me 7:30 to get up to the cross and take a pic, and 5 mins to walk back down to the gate. 13 minutes 30 seconds total. I would not recommend walking up the steep bit unless you are fit and have good walking shoes.
