02 – Baptism Point
This is a story about Doug. Doug understands that baptism is a great idea when you want to get right with God. But it’s not so great for your motorcycle. Doug believes there will be motorcycles in Heaven, but that doesn’t mean you can take yours with you.
Doug learned this a few years back when he fully submerged his XR650L at this very spot, coordinates 43.01924, -116.73471. He flailed, floundered, and got soaked to the bone. All in the most dignified type of way. The Honda, however, never quite ran the same.
Now we travel to this location to commemorate his unusual take on theology.

Use the form below to check in. Check-ins must include a photo of you or your bike at the challenge site with the 2025 bandanna. All participants must be registered IAMC Challenge Members. Leave a description of your ride and share road conditions — snow, water, obstacles, and tips for future riders are all appreciated.
Replying to another person's check-in is encouraged, but take care not to accidentally create your own check-in.
The stated difficulty is an estimate. Rating your experience helps future riders stay safe. You alone are responsible for the safety of your ride.
10 Check-Ins
This was our second shop with Alec and Troy. I'll list it as a 2, but it's a harder 2 but too easy to call a 3. Coming in from Jordan Valley might be easier yet, but you may have to contend with some water crossings. We came in from the Silver City side, and it was my favorite section of the trip. The water was pretty low today, so we all decided to splash through with our bikes. Good times!
The water looked pretty deep so I turned around. I've already been baptized and didn't need to drown my GS. Looked like there should be some fish in Trout Creek. The mormon crickets looked like Douglas fir cones on the road.
Blew right past this one the road and had to back track a couple miles. Thought about using it as my "water crossing" challenge but pretty sure my bike would still be in that hole if I had tried.
She is still deep! I wiggled up Silver City Road, and found a north-facing switchback that was full of snow. Full stop. On my way down, I saw something that wiggled off to my right, so I turned around and gave it a go. It got me past that patch of snow, and on to the Challenge site! This site will only get progressively better as the weather warms up.

Late season ride. Dit have some ice patches.
Always a nice ride to silver city area.

Quick check in from Wagontown Cemetery headed into Silver City.

Too deep in the middle for me to cross.

I think I’ll pass, she’s deep today.
