Check In
Use the form below to check in. Check-ins must include a photo of you or your bike at the challenge site with the 2025 bandanna. All participants must be registered IAMC Challenge Members. Leave a description of your ride and share road conditions — snow, water, obstacles, and tips for future riders are all appreciated.
Replying to another person's check-in is encouraged, but take care not to accidentally create your own check-in.
The stated difficulty is an estimate. Rating your experience helps future riders stay safe. You alone are responsible for the safety of your ride.
10 Check-Ins
What a view. Also saw my first black bear of the season riding back down.
This is one of my favorite places to visit on the Idaho side of the Hells Canyon area. Sheep Rock, Horse Lookout, Black Lake, all awesome... I really want to sleep out under the stars up here.
Nice ride. If you are going just to here it's a heavy 2, if you want to go to other areas such as Smith Mountain Lookout you are in for a 3. It was super hot on this ride, easily in triple digits.
I came up Kleinschmidt Grade. There was a side-by-side traffic jam in Cuprum, some post-Independence Day BBQ by the looks of it. The trail was a blast and the view from Kinney Point overlooking Hell's Canyon was spectacular.

The road from Hells Canyon up Kleinschmidt Grade to Cuprum was in excellent condition. There were snow fields just off the road as I approached Kinney point, yet the road was no problem. Locals in Cuprum said Smith Mountain Lookout and Black Lake are still snowed in inaccessible so I didn't attempt them today.
Views from Kenney point are spectacular. Must see.
Tried this one about 3 weeks ago, got stopped about 3 miles from Kinney Point; decided it was time for another try. At about 6,500 (site is 7134’ high) I started to run into snow. I got lucky, and was able to wiggle my way past several big drifts. Black Lake and Smith mtn are 8’000 plus, so I am not going to give that one a try until July!

Last stop on a 2 day ride in August. Weather was great
Not sunny today, great ride no dust
Quick break in rain. No dust,no tourists, excellent view.

This place is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever been.
