34 – Rocky Point Lolo
From IdahoClimbingGuide.com:
This peak has been used as a fire lookout since 1934 and is still staffed. The heavy forest in this area gives way to a rocky summit and the lookout structure. Lewis and Clark came by the peak on their way to the Pacific. The view to the west from the lookout includes a big section of ridges that the Lolo Trail (Lewis and Clark’s route) follows west.

The stated difficulty is an estimate. Rating your experience helps future riders stay safe. You alone are responsible for the safety of your ride.
9 Check-Ins
This was our first site of the day. We then did 300 miles looking for shortcut to no avail!
This was a lot of fun... a little rocky and snowy in some spots.
This was really cool. Pretty decent forest service road with plenty of rocks at the upper end
This is a 2, but probably a 2.5 on a bigger bike due to it being a bit rocky near the top. I planned on going through from loscha lodge to 12 firther down the road but google directed me to a dodgy track and a dead end so I made it an out and back. The major benefit of this Challenge poit is being able to do lolo on the way there 🙂
The views are fantastic from this lookout. We couldn't stay long because of the 4th of July rain. For sure, this one is a must see and is ridable on a heavy adventure motorcycle.
My maintenance guy said that he was up there last Tuesday, cleared some downed trees, but still too much snow. I ended up tamping a 40 yard “path” through the biggest drift, and MADE IT! Road was easy and fun, except the snow, which should be gone soon.
I tried. Got to the last section 2 miles from the lookout. There was a tree down then a snowbank and a bigger tree that I could see. A little early yet. Numerous trees were recently cut out on the way up. Roads in decent shape.

It was more snow than rocky that day
