38 – Celebration Park
From the Canyon Country Website:
Situated along the Snake River, Celebration Park was established as Idaho’s only archaeological park in 1989. A walk through the huge basalt melon gravels deposited by the Bonneville flood reveals petroglyphs 100 to 10,000 years old. Visitors learn about the Paleolithic and Archaic lifeways and enjoy throwing a dart with an atlatl. Experience a walking tour of historic Guffey Railroad Bridge and be captivated by southwest Idaho’s early mining and railroad history.

Nice little ride by the Snake River
What could have been
Fun ride, great weather.
pretty park along the snake river! Was paved the whole way so took my road bike. The petroglyphs were a cool surprise!
Easy pavement ride from Boise, about an hour. Nice views of the Owyhees.
It’s an easy pavement ride to the bridge. Take a bit of extra time to look around the park. There are several interesting information stations.
Easy ride on a hot day
Easy ride, cool spot.
Interesting place
I got the Husky out, good ride. I came in the back way so I would rate my way a 3
Pleasant ride. Highway 78 is fun if you’re wanting to go 65 mph with some curves.
Dave and I stayed on pavement the whole time–some with some nice gentle curves. There was a little extra traffic over Memorial Day weekend, which made it tricky for us to get the photos we wanted.
Following BB, we accessed the park from the west via a whooped out, potholed and tire sucking rutted dirt ‘road’ that paralleled the river. BB likes to make things interesting!
The ‘road’ we rode is a 2 on ride level, but the main road in and out of the park is a 1.
Came in from Hwy 45/Dan’s Ferry side. Rode to Celebration park via dirt road that parallels the river from SE of Dan’s ferry. Deep potholes and ruts as usual. Surprisingly not dusty.
Another fun ride along the river.
Met up with other riders there today.
Nice day for riding! Picked up a couple challenge sites and Stacy got to try out her new jacket 🙂 We were out riding all afternoon and she seemed a bit tired afterward…
Beautiful day for a ride from Caldwell, past Lake Lowell over to Map Rock Road along the Snake River on our way to Celebration Park.
Great ride, nice day 04/20/24
Quiet there on a Sunday. Some rutting on the gravel road into the park. Glad I didn’t take the ST.
not much to say!… part of loop ride today
Farai and I certainly didn’t take the easy way here. We’ve got a bit to learn about navigation and the electronics on our bikes. Was a beautiful day to be lost tho and we had a great time doing it.
Checked this box in this fine Saturday. Couldn’t decide whether to get the close-up bridge shot or something that included more stuff. Opted for more stuff…probably should have stuck to the close-up bridge shot.
Came in from the south. The only dirt for the day. Still a beautiful morning. My first IAMC adventure.
Easy ride all on pavement
One down, many to go!
Nice sunny day!
We got this one at susnset. Awesome view down the river.
Celebration Park was the 3rd ride we hit up on the way back from our ride. It’s easy to get to, and paved the whole way. If you want to hit some gravel you can go east out of the park through the camping area.
The celebration was on!
Its been years since I have been to Celebration Park.
Haven’t been down there in a few years.
I have been here at least 10 times this year. I picked up a new bike right at the end of the year and made this part of my break in loop. Super easy to get to. No dirt tires needed.
Came in on Sinker rd. Tarmac all the way.
Celebrating the IAMC challenge starting up again after last years hiatus by visiting Celebration Park.
I came in on the main road and followed the transmission lines back down to the river on my way back out (that was a fun little track)
Although I made it through, I don’t recommend accessing the park by Laughlin Lane. Laughlin Lane would rate a 4 for difficulty when traversing two days after a significant rain. Sinker road rates a 1.
