I'm looking at going and hitting challenge points 47 and 48.  I will be trailering my DRZ to the gravel pit south of Bruneau Idaho. I hope to be there around 10 AM.   Then riding from there.  I plan to hit winter camp and then south to Indian Hot Springs.  The last time I did this around this time of year it was muddy and slick, with lots of baby heads in the trial, as it's mostly two tracks from the winter camp area.   The drop into Indian Hot Springs is ruff with lots of loose rocks and steep grades.  The route back will most likely be the big dirt road back north.  The picture is my family hauler 2 years ago at Indian Hot Springs.

Just confirming that this is planned for Friday the 12th, not Saturday the 13th……?

@bobbyray208 I’m not going to be able to ride Friday but those two points are in what’s becoming my favorite part of the state…….no people (or rather, no traffic!) and endless vistas.   Have fun!

I may be out of town on Friday. Not sure. If my trip falls through I will join. But right now I'm out, unfortunately. 🙁

@bobbyray208 I watched your video on this ride.  Thanks for posting it up.  I have a question about the first gate in the video.  Where is this?  I rode to Winter Camp from Bruneau a few weeks ago and don't remember that gate and the sign-in kiosk.   Also, why did you push your bike once past the gate at Winter Camp.  When I was there I rode right up to it, but not past it.  I don't recall seeing anything about pushing a bike or no-motorized-vehicles (although through OnX I found out that its on private land).    Curious to see your comments on these topics.

@fw190pilot In the past I have gotten to Winter Camp from the normal turn-off at 16.7 miles in if you measure from the gravel pit on the left side of the road GPS (42.76406790439786, -115.67825709289917)  on the pavement.  This time I took the first road at 16.3 miles in and it drops into the canyon just a little sooner.  I'm not sure if it's private or not, as it shows on my onX that it's BLM on the east side and state land on the west.   The first gate as you ride up has a trial cam and a sign-in spot that just asks why you are in the area.  I pushed my bike mainly at the second set of gates.  You saw that when you come in on the second road where the cattle corral is.   I didn't see the point of starting the bike to ride it 20 feet.  Plus I need the exercise.

@fw190pilot I recorded the ride with my Trail Tech,  I need to see if I can pull the GPX file and upload it.

@bobbyray208 Roger all that.   Now you really got me wanting to go down there again and find that kiosk.  I'm betting the gate was open and I blew on past it without thinking about what it was.  Attached are screen shots of my Gaia GPS track into and out of Winter Camp, as well as the OnX view of it showing the private.

And I'm guessing once you shot the photo at the Winter Camp site you just kept going down the road leading south to Indian Hot Springs?

@bobbyray208 I would love to see a GPX file for this. Super bummed I couldn't make the trip on the 12th, but it turned out I was out out of town with my dad. I plan to hit this site soon, probably with my son.
