Three of us did the summer seven ride today. It started with light drizzle, and we were hoping it would clear up by noon; sadly, it didn't, and we all got drenched.
That being said, the ride was awesome. Don was on a 390, Michael on a DR650, and me on the GSA. The ride up to the archery range and monastery was nice and easy. Once at Idaho City, we did a loop up Grimes Creek and down Alder Creek. Everything was big-bike accessible (i.e., me on a GSA), and traction was actually better going down Grimes Creek because of the rain than it was when I went down it a while ago, when it was dry! My Place (used to be called Donna's Place) didn't have the 10000 calorie cinnamon rolls, which was a downer, but at the end of the ride we ate at Trudy's, and the banana cream cake was a good substitute.
It stopped raining heading down 21, and by the time I got home the sun was out. I was still, however, very wet as I'm sure the other guys were!
It was fun watching Don try to pass a truck going up towards Hilltop Station. I'm sure the truck driver felt sorry for him and slowed down 🙂
My Place, formerly Donna's Place is now owned and operated by a nice lady named Wilma.
