The IAMC Challenge

We have amazing adventure riding in Idaho with more than 30 thousand miles of fantastic roads and trails leading to countless scenic destinations, just waiting for you to visit them.  The IAMC Challenge invites you to get out there this year to see some new sights, visit some old favorite spots, push your limits a little bit, and (most of all) get to better know the great state of Idaho.  Two of our favorite sites this year are in neighboring Oregon, not far across the border.

Last year we picked small towns in Idaho.  The majority of these sites could be visited on paved roads, though many chose to make a more adventurous approach via non-paved roads.  For 2017, the 8th year of the IAMC Challenge, we have also selected 44 sites, only one of which is mandatory in order to achieve a Gold or Platinum Tire Level win. (* Please see below.)

The theme for this year is water, specifically hot springs, falls, ponds, lakes and reservoirs (dams included) in Idaho with two sites nearby in Oregon.  They cover the state from north to south and east to west.  While some of these may be reached on paved roads (level 1 ride), several are off-road, some of which are more challenging level 3 or 4 rides.  A PDF file is attached at the bottom of this page listing the 2017 Challenge Sites, as well as a GPX file listing the Challenge Sites as waypoints for your GPS.  A shout out and thank you to Michael Hardy for selecting the Challenge Sites this year and last, and to Chuck Scheer for our bandanas and Challenge logo stickers for this and the past several years.

You do not have to visit all the sites to complete the 2017 Challenge.  Visit as many as your time and riding ability allow.  There will be 4 levels of recognized completion for Challenge participants:

Bronze Tire Winners will document visits to any 10-19 of the sites.  They will receive a special edition “Bronze Tire” sticker and they will also be entered in a drawing to win a bronze-level prize at the conclusion of the challenge.

Silver Tire Winners will document visits to any 20-29 of the sites.  They will receive a special edition “Silver Tire” sticker and they will also be entered in a drawing to win a silver-level prize at the conclusion of the challenge.

Gold Tire Winners will document visits to any 30-39 of the sites as long as the mandatory site #44-Post Your Own Ride is included. They will receive a special edition “Gold Tire” sticker and they will also be entered in a drawing to win a gold-level prize at the conclusion of the challenge.

Platinum Tire Winners will document visits at least 40-44 sites as long as the mandatory site #44-Post Your Own Ride is included. They will receive a very exclusive “Platinum Tire” sticker and they will be entered in a drawing to win a platinum-level prize at the conclusion of the challenge.

*  Challenge Site #44 is mandatory for achieving any Gold or Platinum Tire Level award.  In order to qualify for checking in at this site, you need to post a group ride on the Events section of the IAMC Website sufficiently in advance that riders have an opportunity to opt-in and participate in your posted ride.  Then post one or more photos of your group ride to site #44 on the Challenge list to receive credit.

Of course adventure itself is the main reward, but other rewards await our challengers as well. Your entry fee of $20.00 entitles you to a bandana as well as an entry for drawing of prizes at the annual club meeting.
